George Floyd died on May 25 in Minneapolis, because of police officer Derek Chauvin pushing his knee down on his neck until he suffocated. The New York Times yesterday pieced it all together.
US president Trump today thought it would be appropriate, after first threatening citizens with military force, to let the area opposite of the white house be cleared out, so he could pose in front of the church across the street, holding up a bible, even thought he did not come in or pray. Needless to say, the bishop was not amused.
What else happened today? Let's see...
- Oh yah, Mark Zuckerberg thought it was okeydokey that Trump (president of 'murca) threatened to shoot the 'looters'. Which then let to Facebook employes having a 'virtual walkout', whatever that may be. (I think a real walkout would be more effective, but, hey...)
- Indonesians won't be going to Saudi Arabia this year, to attend the Hajj pilgrimage. The Indonesian governement is seeing it as their responsibility to protect the pilgrims and Hajj workers, and the coronavirus pandemic is making it too risky to go.
- Do you want to visit 2020 NEO-Tokyo though? It's an interactive, 3D, online art show dedicated to the 1988 Japanese post-apocalyptic cyberpunk film Akira, with 14 art works by artists from Singapore, Japan and Philippines.
- And then there's prairie dogs.
